Cupertino, Calif.—August 24, 2005—Clairvoyante, Inc. will be recognized for innovative technology and female leadership during the SilcWIT Technology Showcase and Product Demonstration on September 7 in San Jose. Hosted by Cisco and sponsored by SilcWIT, the Silicon Valley chapter of WorldWIT™, the event celebrates women and their leadership in technology while introducing innovative technologies.
Candice Brown Elliott, who will represent Clairvoyante at the Showcase, founded Clairvoyante in 2000 and now serves as lead engineer, chief technology officer and chairwoman of the board. Not only is she one of a handful of female executives in the global technology industry, she is one of an estimated six percent of electrical engineers in the U.S. who is female.
Clairvoyante is among an elite few that were chosen to present at the Showcase. SilcWIT reviewed dozens of companies with innovative, cutting-edge technology and females in leadership positions, but only 10 were ultimately selected. Ms. Brown Elliott will demonstrate PenTile RGBW™ technology, which improves the performance of liquid crystal displays.
"As a female technologist, I've had to hurdle the double standard and the glass ceiling, but ironically, the one asset that most enabled my success in a male-dominated industry is being a woman," said Ms. Brown Elliott. "Having access to women's entrepreneurial organizations like WorldWIT played a critical role in launching my company by helping me raise funds and corporate awareness, meet key industry insiders, and shatter gender roles in the field. I am pleased to represent WorldWIT's mission of furthering the role of women in technology."
